Future Students
Mature-age entry provides flexibility for Australian students wanting to study at UWA, particularly if they don't have any previous academic results.
Anyone who is aged 20 years or older on 1 March (for Semester One entry) or 1 August (for Semester Two entry) qualifies for our mature-age entry pathways.
Our admissions staff provide individual guidance to help you choose an entry pathway that's appropriate to the course in which you want to enrol.
The pathways
- Four-course Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR)
- This can be suitable if you want to get into a course with a number of prerequisites (such as engineering) or if you are aiming to secure an Assured Entry Pathway to one of our professional postgraduate degrees (provided you haven't completed any previous tertiary study). Talk with the Admissions Centre before you sign up for anything, to select the most appropriate pathway taking into account your previous study history.
- Two-course ATAR
- In this abbreviated version of the normal Year 12 program, an Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) is calculated from only two WA Certificate of Education (WACE) courses. This entry route is suitable if you are aiming for courses with one or two prerequisites (for example, majors in science or commerce).
- Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)
- If you have no previous history of study, you can gain admission to UWA through this test.
- Mature-age Access Program
- This allows people with little or no previous tertiary study the opportunity to begin on a trial basis. After successfully completing a provisional enrolment program and satisfying course requirements along the way, you'll be offered full enrolment in your degree course with credit for units already passed.
- Previous study
- If you've studied at another university or a TAFE college, you may be able to use the results from your previous study to gain entry.
