What are the advantages of studying Arts at UWA?

The Arts Faculty at UWA is renowned for quality in teaching and learning, consistently scoring highly on both nationally and internationally administered surveys of teaching quality.

A UWA Arts degree is incredibly flexible. With a selection of over 30 subjects, students can design their course to suit their interests and they don't need to choose their major area of study until part way through the course. This flexibility allows students to study in a variety of different ares before choosing the area they wish to specialise in.

Arts students may also choose an Arts practicum unit which gives them the opportunity to put into practice in the workplace the knowledge they have gained during their study. This is also an excellent way for them to gain relevant experience in a professional environment.

In addition, all Arts students are encouraged to broaden their horizons by applying to take part in the University's Study Abroad program. This provides students with the opportunity to undertake studies at a university in another country, which they may then be able to have credited back to their UWA degree.

What kind of jobs can an Arts degree lead to?

Arts graduates have flexible, generic, portable and internationally recognised skills which are highly valued by employers worldwide. In a constantly changing global environment, the ability to question received wisdom and be open to new ideas is crucial.

Arts alumni can be found in many exciting places and careers. Arts graduates from UWA can be found in a variety of positions including international relations and politics, journalism and the media, marketing and public relations, music, fine art, community services and social work.
