Campus Challenge
Campus Challenge is an interactive, residential camp for high school students in Years 10, 11 and 12. Held at the University during the July school holidays, participants stay in student accommodation and spend the days taking part in various hands-on academic and recreational activities. It is an opportunity for students to experience what uni life is really like and also provides an insight into the variety of fields that can be studied at university.
New Courses for 2008
UWA has two new science courses that are available for the first time in 2008. Climate Studies is the only course of its kind in Australia and will enable graduates to analyse and interpret the risks and opportunities associated with climate and climate change. Also available for the first time is a major in Science Communication, which will allow students to develop the skills required for a wide range of employment prospects including informal education and media relations.
Career Advisers Day
Career Advisers Day is an opportunity for career advisers and other secondary staff involved in advising students on tertiary education to take part in a variety of interactive workshops and seminars. This year it will take place on Monday the 9th of June from 9am to 3pm at the University Club.
Upcoming Events and Important Dates
Make sure you stay up to date with all of the important events occuring at the University that are of special interest for high school students and teachers.
Course in Focus
Arts involves the study of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Humanities explore human civilisation and culture, while the Social Sciences take a more scientific approach to the study of human behaviour and organisation. Arts subjects provide the opportunity to learn and practise critical, analytical and creative thinking. These things are valued by many employers as one of the greatest benefits of a university education.
