Campus Challenge

For many people, deciding on what to do after you finish school is an extremely tough decision.

This decision isn’t made any easier when you take into account the daunting array of courses on offer and the fact that it is hard to know what university is actually like until you get there.

Campus Challenge gives you the opportunity to experience university life by spending a week at university… before you finish high school! This unique opportunity is open to students in Years 10, 11 and 12 during the July school holidays.

Camp partipant exercisingThe main objective of the camp is to enable students to make vital decisions about their future by exposing them to all aspects of university life through participation in a wide range of academic, sporting, recreational and social activities on campus at The University of Western Australia.

Taking up this challenge gives you the chance to participate in academic sessions that are a mixture of lectures and hands on workshops involving research and experiments, just like real university students do. You will be taught by experts in their fields, and exposed to a wide range of subject areas, including Forensic Science, Engineering, Human Movement, Architecture and Fine Arts, Agriculture, Physics, Law, Business, Information Technology, Medicine and Dentistry. There is something for everyone with the opportunity to discover fields that you may not have even considered before.

The busy schedule is not all hard work and study, on the contrary it is packed full of sports and recreational activities such as sailing, rock climbing, beach trips, yoga, rollerblading, and circuit and bodycombat classes. There are even sessions about practical stress management skills, which will be just as valuable in upper high school as they will be at university. In the evenings there is plenty of entertainment and social activities such as movie nights, quiz nights, and even roller hockey.

Campus Challenge also gives you the chance to sample the independence of living away from home by staying in one of UWA’s residential colleges, where you will also be provided with three meals a day.

Camp2By the end of the week you can expect to have gained a lot of insight into uni life and the courses available, made great new friends, and had a lot of fun in the process.

There are a limited number of scholarships available for country students to help meet both the cost of Campus Challenge and the travel expense to travel to Perth. For more information on these contact the Prospective Students Office on 6488 2477.
