Future Students

Important Dates

There are many dates in the UWA calendar that are of significant importance to both teachers and prospective students. These dates include events such as information sessions, lectures and expos as well as application cut-off dates.

UWA Expo

Sunday 19th August 2007, 9am-4pm
The University of Western Australia

The University of Western Australia's Expo 2007 is a great opportunity for prospective students and their families to visit UWA and see what goes on inside a world class university.
Course information will be available in faculty displays and through a series of information sessions repeated throughout the day. Current students and staff will be on hand to discuss individual needs and study interests. You can also view the other facilities on campus such as The University Club, the Berndt Museum of Anthropology, and the Earth Sciences Museum and find out about the many other exciting things on offer for students: the Guild's activities, the social and sporting clubs you can join, and the range of support services provided to new undergraduates.
Early birds may wish to attend the Vice-Chancellors' Cup, an intervarsity rowing regatta presented by Tertiary Sports Western Australia and the UWA Sport and Recreation Association. Held on Matilda Bay at the UWA Boat Club, the event starts at 8.30am.
Expo program details will be listed on this website as they become available. A comprehensive 16 page lift-out program brochure will be published in The West Australian on Saturday 11 August.
Share in the UWA experience and come along to Expo 2007.

Information Sessions

De Laeter Youth Lecture 2007
Wednesday 29th August 2007, 1-2pm
Ross Lecture Theatre, School of Physics, UWA
RSVP to Ian McArthur, mcarthur@physics.uwa.edu.au

We are now nearing a period in our cosmic time travel that will contain one of the Universe's most profound events - the first light from the first star - the 'dawn of creation'. This event will be found and studied by a new telescope which, when completed in 2020, will be the world's largest astronomical facility. Presented by Professor Peter Quinn, this talk will give a broad overview of our cosmic journey back in time, what we have found so far, what mysteries we have uncovered and what we hope to find with the new generation of telescopes we are about to build.
