Engineering

Engineering is the creative application of science and mathematics to design solutions for problems in the world.

Engineers are constantly challenged by new problems that require not only scientific skills but also imagination, inspiration and creativity.

The Bachelor of Engineering at UWA has ''common foundation core units'' sometimes referred to as the common first year, which provides a breadth of study that will be of benefit to students and also allows students to commence the course before deciding which programme to take.

Students who know which programme they want to take can choose ''foundation option units'' most relevent to that program.

You can choose from 12 programs in the Bachelor of Engineering.

Level 1
All engineering students follow a common course in level 1, allowing you the flexibility of selecting any engineering stream at the end of the level. The subjects include mathematics, engineering fundamentals and physics, plus electives from a variety of engineering streams.

Upper levels
Specialisation within an engineering discipline commences at level two and continues throughout the upper levels. The units studied will depend upon your area of specialisation, however all engineering students study a unit examining engineering and its impacts upon society.

During the Bachelor of Engineering, you will also complete at least 12 weeks full time (or equivalent part time) of professional work experience.
