Asian Business

Commercial expertise is essential to the functioning of organistions and the economy as a whole.

With the growing importance of international markets, especially in Asia, graduates with expertise in the business environment of Asia will be able to participate in this exciting and challenging area.

The social, cultural and political aspects of doing business in and with Asia have been integrated with the essential knowledge and skills of management and business to produce a commercially focussed program applicable throughout the region.

Taken by itself, or as part of a double major with any of the other business and commercial majors offered by the Business School, it provides the basis for an exciting career in a market that is both dynamic and filled with opportunity.

Asian business can be studied as a major in the Bachelor of Commerce or the Bachelor of Economics, and combined courses which include these degrees.

Asian Business introduces you to economic, commercial, social and cultural skills that are needed as the basis of a business career in the Asian region, or if you intend to work in companies that have extensive contact and trading relationships in Asia. This major offers ways to integrate business skills with the cultural awareness essential for business success in the region.

Career Opportunities

As a graduate of the Business School you will find a variety of career paths — stockbroker, investment analyst, personnel officer, economic analyst, or economist. Depending on the choice of your second major (most students choose to complete two majors) you could expect to work in a wide range of financial positions. Marketing, management, information management, trade and government representation are other types of positions that former graduates presently occupy. The Asian Business major offers a wide range of career options and is an excellent choice for those who know the area in which they want to work, but may have little idea of the final direction that will suit them best.
