Mathematics - students with insufficient mathematics backgrounds will be required to include Quantitative Methods for Business Economics ECON1111 as part of their first year of study Applicants without demonstrated mathematics competancy will not be admitted.

Money and Banking

Money and Banking provides an introduction to banking, the Australian financial system, international financial markets and the macroeconomic environment in which financial markets operate.

The major in Money and Banking is well suited to any student of Economics or Commerce and can be combined with majors in economics and finance.  It provides an introduction to banking and financial intermediation, the Australian financial system, international financial markets and the macroeconomic environment in which financial markets operate.  Topics covered include recent developments in monetary theory, bank risk management, bank performance analysis, derivative security markets and the international monetary system and foreign exchange markets.

Money and Banking can be studied as a major in the Bachelor of Economics, associated combined courses and also as a second major in the Bachelor of Commerce.

Structure

144 to 150 points comprising 24 to 25 six-point units. Students normally take eight units each year, four in each semester.
