Entrepreneurship is the practice of starting new organisations or revitalising mature organisations to take advantage of identified opportunities.
It is a mistake to believe that there is no scope for creativity in the field of commerce. The Entrepreneurship and Innovation major provides a pathway for students who wish to place themselves at the leading edge of the commerce field. Entrepreneurship is valued for its positive contributions to the economy, society and community development. Entrepreneurs excel when they are working on an opportunity or solution that they are passionate about. This major is designed to enable students to develop the skill and perspectives necessary to start new ventures, develop and grow existing businesses or create an entrepreneurial and innovative climate in large organisations.
Level 1 core units
ACCT1101 Financial Accounting
ECON1101 Microeconomics: Prices & Markets
STAT1520 Economic & Business Statistics
The Entrepreneurship and Innovation major prepares students for careers as entrepreneurs, managers of new ventures within major corporations and advisors to entrepreneurial ventures.
