We find that school visits are a great way to introduce secondary students to life at uni.
These school visits can take the form of talks to groups of students, parent information evenings and even career expos.
During school visits we provide information on:
School visits with Year 12 students include general information about admission to university, in addition to specific details relating to UWA. Year 12 talks typically cover the following points:
Year 12 school visits usually require one hour. They are best aimed at tertiary-bound students, even if they do not intend to study at UWA. It may be useful to allocate time for individual student consultations after the main presentation.
As the content of the Year 11 talk is similar to the Year 12 presentation, we recommend that Year 11 students are grouped together with Year 12 students.
School visits with Year 10 students include general information about admission to university, with specific details about individual universities provided on request. The basic Year 10 presentation answers the following questions:
Year 10 talks generally last about 45 minutes including question time.
Most of our school visits are aimed at Years 10 and 12 students. However, many students make up their minds about university at an earlier age. If you would like us to speak to your younger students, we can tailor a presentation to meet their needs.
One way to include parents in their child's education is to invite them to attend an information evening at your school. We are happy to attend such evenings in order to discuss things like admission requirements, university applications and UWA courses. Contact the Admissions Centre to organise your school's parent information session.
