Combined courses

A combined course allows you to study two degrees at the same time.

Why study a combined course?

Combined courses give you the flexibility of studying topics you may not be able to combine in a single degree. This is ideal if you have interests in two seemingly opposite subjects.

On the other hand, you may want to complement your main area of study with classes in a different area. This may open up more career opportunities.

UWA offers more than 50 combined courses from which to choose.

How do combined courses work?

The structure of your course will be modified to accommodate two degrees and your study will be spread over a longer period. Usually you will study units from both degrees simultaneously, although depending on which combination you choose, you may complete one degree before the other.

Enrolment options

Students enrolling in combined degree programs can undertake their degree as either a standard enrolment or an overload enrolment:

Standard enrolment

Students study the combined degree course over the full standard duration of the course (between four-and-a-half years and six-and-a-half years), studying a standard study load each semester.

Overload enrolment

This increases the course load to finish your degree in a shorter time period, by completing additional units each semester.  You'll need to pay additional course fees on a pro-rata basis for the overload; that means the total course fees will be the same under either condition.
