Timeline


Final ranking for graduate entry to medicine is based on:

  1. your performance in the Graduate Australian Medical School Admission Test (GAMSAT);
  2. a selection interview; and
  3. your grade point average.

These are weighted equally but you must must also meet the minimum threshold in each of the three areas to remain in contention for a place in the graduate entry medicine course.

Date Requirement
October 2008 - February 3 2009 Register for GAMSAT (late application 13 February).
March 21 Sit GAMSAT.
May 20 Graduate Medicine information evening
May – early June (TBA) Register for graduate entry medical schools with ACER.
May – early June (TBA) Include statutory declaration with ACER application (if applying as a rural applicant).
May – early June (TBA) Include undergraduate transcripts and postgraduate transcripts (if applicable) with ACER application.
Early - mid July (TBA) Submit semester one 2009 results directly to the Faculty if you want them to be included in GPA calculation for interview offers (includes postgraduate - if applicable).
Mid August (TBA) Receive interview offer from Faculty or unsuccessful letter from ACER.
Mid August – late September (TBA) Applicants invited for interview apply through TISC (including any preference for a bonded medical place). Late applications not accepted.
Sept and/or Oct (TBA) Attend interview (if invited) - not all days used within the period.
Sept and/or Oct (TBA) Apply for Medical Rural Bonded Scholarship applications available at interviews (this is optional).
Mid December (TBA) Preliminary offers (not available to applicants studying in semester two of 2009).
December - early January 2010 (TBA) Interviewees submit semester two results to the Faculty so GPA can be recalculated for final ranking (if studying in 2009) - includes postgraduate studies (if applicable).
December early January (TBA) Submit semester two results to TISC if studied at a private university or an international university, including New Zealand universities.
Mid January 2010 (TBA) Main-round offers.
Early February (TBA) Second-round offers.
Late April (TBA) First-year graduate entry medicine starts.
