Mature-age entry provides flexibility for entering UWA, particularly if you don't have any previous academic results.
Anyone who is 20 or over on 1 March of the year of entry qualifies for our mature-age entry pathways.
Our admissions staff provide individual guidance to mature-age students to help you choose an entry pathway that's appropriate to the course in which you want to enrol.
The pathways are:
In this entry you essentially follow the same study program as a Year 12 student and have a TER calculated in the same way. You then compete for a place. As a mature-age student you are exempt from the Secondary Graduation/WA Certificate of Education requirement. If you are completing a full TEE application, you need to demonstrate English Language Competence by obtaining a scaled mark of 50 or more in WACE English, English Literature or English as an Additional Language/Dialect (for eligible students).
You must also satisfy any prerequisite subjects needed for admission to your desired course at UWA. Contact the Admissions Centre if you would like help in selecting approprate TEE subjects.
To be eligible the mature-age TEE you will need to be 19 years or over on 1 March of that year (which means you will be 20 by 1 March in the year you enter university). Mature-age TEE requires students to undertake two TEE/WACE subjects (over one calendar year). A TER is based on results in the two subjects, and will be calculated only if you have passed both subjects in the same year.
The University's English Language Competence requirement is satisfied by achieving a high-enough score in a UWA-approved test of English including a pass in TEE English or in the Special Tertiary Admission Test (STAT).
A minimum of 150 out of 200 in the multiple choice verbal component and a minimum of 145 out of 200 in the written English section is required to satisfy the English Language Competence requirement. It is important that you choose your two subjects carefully to make sure you meet any prerequisites. Contact the Admissions Centre to help you select appropriate subjects.
