UWA is a lively campus, with lots of activities, but you need to be organized if you really want to have fun and enjoy the campus life. UWA is one of the best places for a student when it comes to research, especially when you need help from other departments to work collaboratively.

Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish, and you have fed him for a lifetime. When I had questions, the teachers and school staff at UWA were always there to help me. What we need to do first is just speak out.

In the first week of study at UWA, we received comprehensive information regarding the University and how to have a comfortable stay in Perth. All this early information was pivotal in helping me to adapt to the UWA culture and begin to undertake my research. This information made me feel self reliant and confident.

The UWA campus is fantastic and the level of education provided is of the highest standard. The environment is highly multicultural, within a short period of time I felt completely adjusted. The University’s International Centre and in my case also the Graduate Research School contributed to a smooth transition in my studies and a continuous protection of my needs and interests.

I found UWA to be a friendly and enjoyable environment which has provided a comfortable atmosphere for study. If you are a new international student don’t be afraid to ask for help. The help I have received has made the remainder of my studies a lot easier and I feel very comfortable studying at UWA.

UWA is very unique in that you can do your research in almost every well-known hospital or institute in Perth. Life as an international postgraduate student is very rewarding both academically and culturally. I think the years I spent at UWA doing my Masters and PhD were the most effective time of my life.

UWA has given me the essential grounding in the specialization that I required in order to enhance my career. The student and staff support at UWA was excellent!  Don’t be afraid to ask for help… talk to lots of people about your research project. Studying at UWA opened many perspectives for me academically and socially.

There is plenty of help and information around for newcomers from various student bodies, Student Services, the International Centre and the Council of International Students. A simple question or a gesture of difficulty can lead to meeting with the right group of people and a wealth of information to ease the transition.
