Q. Do you have any tips for where can I meet prospective supervisors from UWA?

A. Internationally, your best chance of meeting someone in your field from UWA would be through attending international conferences in your area of expertise.

You can get an idea of people at UWA who may share your area of research expertise, including lists of publications.

You can also read our section about choosing a supervisor.

Q. How can I connect with an academic staff member at the university before I finalise my plans to come to UWA?

A. You should first contact your appropriate Graduate Research Coordinator. They will be able to advise you of the academic staff member in their area that is most appropriate for you. Read also choosing a supervisor.

Q. Are there any books about the Australian 'way of life'?

A. There are numerous books available. Some suggested titles are:

  • Studying in Australia: A guide for international students by Teresa De Fazio
  • In a sunburned country by Bill Bryson
  • Living and working in Australia: A survival handbook by Tim Clark
Q. Where can I meet and socialise with other international research students?

A. See the social programs section on the International Centre site.
