International students have a number of opportunities for financial assistance either through external organisations, such as the government in their home country, with the Australian Government through the Australian Awards programme or through The University of Western Australia scholarships programs. There are three main types of funding options available to eligible international students:

UWA funded scholarships

Undergraduate
On occasion, a Faculty or School may offer scholarships to international students.  The University of Western Australia curretly offers a number of undergraduate scholarships with the Business School and the Science Faculty.

Postgraduate - Research
There are two major scholarship schemes for postgraduates.  These include the International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS). Learn more about these scholarships.

Postgraduate - Coursework
The University offers a number of scholarships to eligible Indian citizens. 

Students who apply for an eligible postgraduate science course are automatically considered for a Science International Postgraduate Merit Awards

Australian government funded scholarships

Australia Awards are prestigious international scholarships and fellowships funded by the Australian Government offering high-achieving students the opportunity to undertake study, research and professional development. Categories include:

  • Scholarships and Fellowships
  • Leadership Program
  • Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships
  • Fellowships (administered by ACIAR)

Externally funded sponsorships

Sponsored students receive financial assistance from a government, organisation or company (not private individuals or relatives) to undertake studies at The University of Western Australia (UWA).  Funding of the scholarship is usually from an organisation within the student's home country.

The University of Western Australia (UWA) International Centre welcomes sponsored students, but it is important to note that student's need to make their own enquiries within their home country or own organisation about how to become an International Centre sponsored student.
